I thought I would paste this across for those that missed it on facebook.
I know I speak for everyone when I say 'thank you' James. I know how much effort goes into keeping things running and I know the club would not be what it is without your vision and commitment.
Hey guys, this is a bit overdue but here goes so PLEASE READ and comment.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined since the club opened/begun last year on May 29th. The club is now a year old and the past year has been awesome. It would really not be what it is if it where not for you guys and by that I mean all the different games that are now played at the club and the real sense of a community that we all have. I know there are some people on here who haven't made it down yet since joining the clubs group on here or the forum and its great to have you contributing on here/the forum & I do hope that you can make it down on a Sunday soon!
We have loads of games systems happening now and I love the fact that the list is still growing. Over the next year I will be aiming to update a lot of scenery to cater for x wing, bolt action, historical games and the rest of the list of what we have going on now. I have to give out some special thanks to Pete and Trev for the amount of intro games that have been running all because of them, I will never forget the Darlek invasion in bolt action. (This has to happen again) Also a big thanks to Leanne for the nail biting dark heresy that has been happening at the club, cannot wait to see what is happening next!
Over the year I would like to get more events happening within the club to strengthen the community, friendships and environment that we have developed. I would like this to be as a result of us as a club doing more leagues, tournaments and campaigns. I do need help with this, if you are interested and want to take the reigns and create a league, tournament or campaign then please get in touch and lets make it happen. Something that has also been great has been the amount of board games that have been happening at the club and I really want to hold more board game events and see more of them down the cub, Ross, your magic bag of board games is still amazing!
Other than more scenery and events ect, nothing dramatic will be changing. I would like to move into the main room fully but I think that this will come over the next year and is all down to membership numbers but fingers crossed. Moving on to membership, over the last year we now have 67 names on the members list on my home pc plus over 20 casual people who attend ad hoc. This takes us to 87 people who know about and have been to or attend the club, which is awesome!
Finally as I have mentioned in conversation over the last few weeks, the weekly Member entry fee will be increasing from £4.00 to £5.00. This is purely down to the fact that over the last 8 weeks I have had to personally cover between £15 - £30.00 a week for the £80.00 rent per week. Now I haven't minded this as quiet periods do happen and I appreciate and take this on board but with my new flat this cost that I am covering is beginning to eat into money for my rent and bills plus the cost of train fare to get to St Albans each week. It will also make the whole change situation easier for members and the fee is still less than £1.00 per hour of gaming at the club. Essentially for members the increase is £4.00 a month more if you are coming every week. I hope that you guys can appreciate my comments, the above information and that this will not stop you from coming! The Casual attendee / Non membership fee will be going up to £6.00 per week/time that they come, both of these slight price increases will be in effect as of now to help with the above.
Please read and comment below with any questions, advice or interest in getting involved with new campaigns, tournaments and leagues. Also guys, Warlords is not MY club, it is YOURS and I want it to be the best it can for all of us, as a community of like minded wargamers.
Have a great evening and sorry for the essay!
James
