All
James has asked me to chair a short AGM on Sunday the 29th June to highlight a few things and ensure the club shares a common vision for the coming year.
These things are always more effective when they are short and punchy so I would like to prepare an agenda in advance. My goal would be to kick the meeting off between 5.30pm and 6pm and be done within 45 mins to limit the impact on gaming
If any of you have any bright ideas or a wish list of what you would like to do at the club or the club to achieve within the next 12 months please can you either email me direct on trevordgillard@gmail.com, pm me through these boards or tag this post.
(Its best to know what 'Any Other Business' is coming so answers can be prepared in advance)
Working agenda
- Thank you's and well done's; Individual achievements recognised (nominations welcomed)
- Club Vision. 'A very friendly club'
- Club Membership & Finances; a short statement.
- Action: gain agreement on when the club finances need to be formalised (to ensure no one is personally out of pocket) i.e. appoint a treasurer
- Club Terrain; the need to repair existing and create new terrain.
- Action: set a date for a whole club 'Terrain Sunday' and form a terrain working party to ensure we have the right materials on the day etc to get the job done
- Club Projects; Do we want to do a whole club project? a participation or demonstration game we could take to wargames shows (free entry!) to promote the club. E.g. Battle(s) of St Albans (War of the Roses) .... or 40K or... etc etc etc
- Action: If agreed form a working party to coordinate the project
Any Other Business (time permitting)
Archery... I can arrange for the club to enjoy an archery taster session with the Wheathamstead Archery club for a nominal per head charge. All equipment and instructors provided. Glorious way to spend a few hours of the summertime Etiquette.... and putting stuff away at the end of the night Facebook and Proboard.... posts and pictures Club Bring and Buy Magic the Gathering Draft Discount with retailers for club membership

Many thanks everyone for giving up some of your gaming time.
A summary of what was agreed:
Round of applause and thanks to James Otero for generally being the person who started off and keeps the club going and for handling the money, promotion and all the other associated background stuff so far.
Special mentions for Leanne, the person who looks most like her Board avatar and for running an engaging Dark Heresy game
A tie between the nominations for people most likely to charge with fixed bayonettes and least likely to play the French: Ross & Rodge
and for Pete who is 'most likely to create a brand new game system within 10 minutes' and has done much for broadening the spectrum of games put on at the club.
Club Vision
The friendly Club
TG highlighted the importance of making anyone new or any unfamiliar face feel welcome. Many wargames clubs can be quite 'clique'y so lets make the effort to be inclusive. Everyone warmly welcomed Dave on his first visit.
Finance
James reports that the increase in numbers and recent increase in weekly subs has done much to stabilise club finances which were on occasion running at a loss. A surplus of funds can be used for terrain, materials etc etc.
Terrain Project
It was unanimously agreed that a Sunday should be set aside to repair and create the club terrain. Ross volunteered to lead the working party. A separate thread will be set iup on the boards and a date announced. Please ensure that everyone provides at least one idea for a wish list piece of club terrain to Ross.
Whole Club project
It was agreed that it would be good to undertake a project as a whole club. Possibly one that could be taken as a demonstration or participation game to wargames shows. Rodge volunteered to lead this project and a separate thread will be set up to facilitate this. Suyggestions so far that had support: large 40K, Wars of the Roses 1st battle of St Albans and out in front: Battle of St Albans; alternate history.
AOB
Archery
TG to organise a date for 12-20 people to experience a taster archery session at the Wheathampstead Archery Club
Etiquette
Reminded of the need for 'Gentleman's courtesy' amongst members. Help required to put away at the end of the evening. Idea of a photo showing how stuff should be stored adopted.
Face book and Proboard
Basically, use the boards to promote what you are doing. Take and post pictures of the beautiful games you put on. The boards are potentially the ebst shop window into the club after actually coming down and having a look.
Bring and Buy
Another has been scheduled for August onwards. James sorting out interclub promotion.
MTG
Drafts and possible sanctioned tournaments.
Booster box ordered so this will begin to happen shortly. Need to re advertise club in chaos City for Xwing and MTG players highlighted.
Club Discount
This is underexplored at present. James has a trade connection with KR which can be exploited allowing for some of the discount to remain in club funds. Anyone planning large purchases, speak to Trev first. May be able to organise a club discount in advance of your purchase.
Meeting closed (32 mins)

Looks like I missed a good session!
Sorry I couldn't attend, but flight delays and jet lag met I was in no fit state to contribute effectively.
Just on KR discount, I'm planning a large order, so a discount would be good...

It's a decent discount Phil, think it's about 20 or 30%.
