Club Finances
Reported that the club funds stood at £157 with no debts at the end of January 2018.
It was highlighted that the current hiring costs are cheaper than St Albans there have been several weeks where the hire charge has been subsidised by club funds through lack of attendance.
Rodge highlighted that the balance was £350 at the point we left St Albans.
Trevor made the point that it was important that the club did run every week rather than on/off as it was the only way for people to be sure there would be a club open if they fancied popping along.
Several initiatives were raised for increasing income and reducing costs
Trev has reached out to other local groups to ensure they know they are welcome to come along and use the facilities during our time slot - this will increase membership.
Trev proposed buying in Pizzas to keep the profit in the club rather than Domino's. Order to be placed in advance of Sunday. Freezer space to be investigated.
Club T shirts - all agreed they would buy one and promote club at shows etc if available - Matt highlighted that he had previously done some design work but had had little feedback.
Proposed ending an hour sooner at 9pm but with the proviso that if games wanted to continue they could but the additional £10 would be paid.
Consideration of an increase of subs to £6 and or an annual membership (as before) to ensure the club is there when you want it whether you attend regularly or not.
A Hitchin/Herfordshire games open day could be organised at the centre - Centre would split any door charge rather than charge a hire fee. Other clubs to be contacted.
Club location, Name and future
Matt agreed that he would continue to source an appropriate venue and storage in St Albans
The club agreed that those present were happy to continue in Hitchin until such time as a suitable St Albans venue was arranged
The club was happy to be the only St Albans club meeting in Hitchin
Consideration was given to the club name - Warlords Wargaming St Albans. It was highlighted that this name was chosen before people realised that the largest UK club is called South London Warlords and that the most successful manufacturer (outside GW) is called Warlord Games - neither of whom we are affiliated to in any way.
The club voted that they were happy to consider a name change - Initial names given for consideration were Hertfordshire Honeybadgers and Hertfordshire Hearthguard.
Action - Chairman gave everyone 2 weeks to bring their suggestions forward when a vote would be taken.
Action - it was highlighted that a name change would mean new media presence required - photos to be archived etc
